Kenzo’s Resort ’13 Collection Inspired By Jungle What?

With resort '13 proving to be the gift that keeps on giving in terms of inspiring wares, we were undeniably stoked to see Kenzo's cruise collection for the upcoming year. While we were automatically attracted to the bold-shouldered jackets and well-draped parachute pants, we were momentarily stunned when we read the attached press release that states: "Kenzo's colorful Jungle Jap as a starting point for this resort collection."

Sounds offensive, right? For those of you who don't know , the term Jungle Jap is in reference to a boutique that Kenzo Takada, creator of Kenzo, owned in Paris in the 1970s. That being said, even if we understand the use of the phrase and the history behind it, we can't help but feel that employing this term in our current era of political correctness is not in the best of taste.

What do you think? Are we being overly sensitive or should Kenzo think twice about using a racist term to describe their resort '13 collection (images provided below)?
