Score Super-Stylish (And Affordable) Art Just By Reading R29

Angelenos are familiar with the strategic, not-so-subtle namedrop — and yes, even we can be guilty of it! Honestly, we're not going to hide how flattering it is to be that big name that’s dropped. So, we're just putting it out there:The Santa Monica Museum of Art is giving R29 junkies first dibs on stunning Kim McCarty watercolors created just for SMMoA at the artist’s installation opening (told ya — reading R29 pays off!). Just mention the site when you arrive at the reception this Saturday, anytime between 5 and 6 p.m. (the exhibition opens to the public at 6 p.m.), and you're good to go!

Kim studied her craft at both UCLA and the Art Center, before moving to Malibu with restaurateur-hubby Michael McCarty (of Michael’s Santa Monica). Her ethereal works often depict young, fragile figures, and are reasonably priced at $300 for smaller paintings; $600 for larger pieces. Plus, all proceeds from Kim McCarty Paints goes right back into the museum. You can also catch Kim in-person, when she paints live at the museum Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13 and again from Thursday, April 18 through Saturday, April 20 from 1 to 6 p.m.
