Alice Waters Teams Up With Levi’s, Sofia Coppola, And Other Celebs On Tees

As one of numerous ways Alice Waters is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Chez Panisse, the ground-breaking chef is partnering with Levi’s and a roster of celebs—including Sofia Coppola, Dave Eggers, David Byrne, and Maira Kalman—to launch a T-shirt collection to benefit the Edible Schoolyard Project. The 100% organic tees can be snapped up for the first time on Wednesday, August 24, in select Levi's shops around the country and on levi.com. City dwellers can even meet the folks behind the shirts and Waters herself (she'll be signing copies of 40 Years of Chez Panisse, The Power of Gathering) at a Levi's-hosted "school lunch" on Maiden Lane (between Grant Avenue and Stockton Street) the same day. A mere $5-$10 donation is recommended. It's from 12:30 to 2 p.m., so make sure you plan your lunch break accordingly.
