Local Homeboy Hyden Yoo’s New Fall Line

To local retailers, designer Hyden Yoo has always been recession-proof. Five years ago, he put his spin on menswear for the working dude, with a small, exquisitely tailored selection of dress shirts that made I-Bankers actually look cool. Realizing he couldn't get 'em on the shelves fast enough, in 2008 he translated his singular success into a complete menswear collection. The pieces had the same Wall Street-meets-Williamsburg vibe of his shirting, with a dash of fairy dust from the Beatrice Inn thrown in, too. Lucky for us, last season Yoo brought his mad sartorial skills to the ladies in his first womenswear collection. And, don't worry, homey don't play! For fall '10, he's turned up the volume, with a collection of drapey takes on staples that are comfortable and still sublimely chic. Though the parkas, baggy sweaters, and slouchy jumpsuits are oversized, they're not sloppy— the fit accentuates rather than obliterates. Plus, for guys, there are all the core items you'll need, from a perfect pea-coat to one really rad V-neck sweater. We suggest buying in bulk with your dude: You'll be the coolest (most comfortable) couple ever.
