Why pay rent when you can buy a lifetime of at-home workouts instead? Hock Design wants to upgrade your home gym with its sleek, luxurious, and incredibly expensive fitness equipment. The artisanal tools are made in Germany using sustainable wood, stainless steel, and Italian leather. They combine design, function, and fitness in an incredibly breathtaking way, fulfilling the brand’s mission of “style in motion.”

The Loft dumbbells (pictured) are a pared-down version of the clunky ones you typically see at the gym, and the six-kilogram set (roughly 13 lbs.) will cost you $1.2K. If you don’t want to make the investment, but do want to see how the elite do a bicep curl, the high-end gear is available for guests to use at the Guerlain Spa in the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria New York.

This isn’t the first company to focus on elevating the design (and price) of home fitness equipment. Technogym is known for its state-of-the-art Kinesis functional training system, which was designed by Italian architect Antonio Citterio. And, the design firm Lunar created a high-tech yoga “rug” that serves as a piece of normal home décor when not in use.

Of course, we’re not saying swanky equipment is a fitness necessity; all you really need to work up a sweat is yourself and a will to squat and push-up for days. And, maybe a good pair of performance sneakers (here are 29 we love) and a supportive sports bra. Still, when people say you should "invest in your health" — they may be talking about these dumbbells.
