We Got Soaked With Champagne At Carine’s Paris Ball (Of Course)

We've been to quite a few parties in our day, but last night's Paris Fashion Week extravaganza — a ball (of course) hosted by Carine Roitfeld and MAC — definitely made it up there. Sure, it could be because this writer has been locked away in a law school dungeon for the past three years, having swapped Tom Ford for Clarence Thomas. But, it could also be the fact that a reveler popped a champagne bottle in the middle of the dance floor, soaking a bevy of models in suds, and launching a full-on fist fight (the girls' companions were not pleased) while Rihanna played on in the background. We had only ever seen such male bravado in the movies. Chivalry, apparently, is alive and well.

Oh, and the rest of the party? All our model idols were there, from Irina Lazareanu to Natalia Vodianova. In one corner, Giovanna Battaglia held down the dance floor; in another, grand dame Roitfeld greeted her fans. Towards the end of the night, a sort of Greek chorus of models formed, elevated on banquets near the dance floor. We looked to them to determine the fate of a song — they were elated for the Stones, less so during Yacht. We wonder: Is "Pumped Up Kicks" so last summer? Karlie? Kanye?
