A perfect day in sunny SoFla consists of eternal sunshine, endless palm trees and a light sea breeze as you pedal through the sand. While the essence of this scene is Pinterest-appropriate, the sight of a 6-speed mountain bike rolling along Ocean Drive kills it for us. But fear not, nostalgic warriors, an iconic vintage model has made a reemergence. Nothing says MIA living quite like the laid-back, chilled out, beach cruiser!
Today’s cruisers pack all that timeless class (gigantour wheels, single or three-speed, opportunity for an adorable woven basket) with a lot more style and a lot less poodle skirt. And best of all, most can be customized to your liking. From candy red wheels to mint green seats, your two-wheeler can be as colorful as you imagine. In the words of Fleetwood Hicks, the creative genius behind Villy Customs, “It’s not about going fast or far; it’s about enjoying the pleasure of the ride. I call them fashion bikes because they’re very fashion-oriented.”
So as we sit here and design our dream cruiser, (and simultaneously pick out some killer accessories to match) we encourage you grab your espadrilles, some pastel jeans and a color-popped, lightweight top. Let’s ditch the gas-guzzlers and get this Monday stroll on a roll.
