Michael Bastian On Waxed Chests, Hairy Models, And Miss Universe

On Tuesday night, Michael Bastian celebrated the launch of his GANT by Michaal Bastian collection at Saks with models, ganterrific gift bags, and a whole lotta prep. And though we shared some campaign images that had to have made you swoon, there's nothing like the real thing to get you all hot'n'bothered. The prices are lower than Bastian's signature line, though a bit higher than GANT's existing collection—think GANT Rugger on coke, not speed. While we spent our fair share of time ogling the boys (and one ridic hot girl—Bastian's jack of all trades Eugenia Gonzalez Ruiz-Olloqui), we did manage to fit in a quick couple of minutes with Bastian himself. You have the most beautiful models in the industry. How do you do it?
"We haven't even started our casting yet. We see a thousand guys to get 30 guys—we see every guy in New York."

What's the look you're going for this season?
"Hairy, I don't wanna see any waxed chests, any waxed legs. Hairy—would love some facial hair...tough. We're looking for Navy S.E.A.L.S. this time.

You don't do any celebrity outreach?
"Not so much. We haven't gotten our hands around that."

Kanye obviously loves you guys. Anyone who hasn't worn your stuff that you would do wear it. Pharrell perhaps?
"Yes. Did you watch Miss Universe?" No. [chuckle]
"Well I am embarrassed to say I did."

Annnnnnnd?
"John Legend was playing at Miss Universe and I was like f*cking John Legend is sick. I would love to talk to John Legend."
