Mugler’s New Bags Were Inspired By Lady Gaga’s Derriere (But…How?)

UPDATE: Thought we left this collection behind? (Bad pun intended, unfortunately.) Now we've got our hands on all the images for the Nicola Formichetti debut collection of handbags for Mugler spring '13. Check out all the styles soon to be available, ahead.
Best friends tell each other when they've accidentally sat on a piece of gum, when their panty line is getting aggressive, and when a dress is giving them "pancake bum" — but designing a bag modeled after your best friend's back end? Only Nicola Formichetti and Lady Gaga have a friendship that can spawn butt bags.
Formichetti, creative director of Mugler, has always made BFF and client, Lady Gaga, one of his collection's focal points, and this spring '13 season is no different. For his first-ever foray in leather bags, Formichetti leaked to WWD that he was inspired by his friend's butt to create the 30-piece collection of day bags, clutches, and sports totes, which will retail for around $900 to $1,550.
The bag images that have leaked are great (the white tote feels more special than the others that harbor strong Céline vibes), but if they resemble Lady Gaga's posterior in the least bit, the diva surely has to have a devil of a time finding pants that fit. (WWD)
