Nothing is better than a weekend spent wandering around your favorite museum or picking up a few new pieces at your go-to stores. But there are only so many hours in a (Satur)day, so why limit yourself to just one culturally-rich activity? With all the great institutions and exhibitions at our disposal as New Yorkers (hello, Whitney Biennial!), there’s no excuse not to take advantage. However, if you really needed one more reason, think of the gift shops on your way out.
From Caravaggio to Clifford Owens, there are more than enough masterpieces to fill our minds and weekend schedules, but our pocketbooks and wardrobes don't have to be totally left out. The museum shops themselves often hold more than your average kitsch and coloring book, and will definitely have an accessory or two with your name ALL over it.
Click through for a mere sampling of the goods we found at gift shops across the city, then go out and explore for yourself. Exit through the gift shop, natch.
