Norwegian Wood’s latest lookbook is literally smokin’. And while the images seem to suggest that the brand’s pieces will make you a sexier version of yourself, brand mastermind Angie Johnson suggests the smoke is a nod to growing up on prairie lands and burning fields to prepare soil for future plantings. The country-gone-cool vibe is alive and well; some of the textiles are prints designed by artist Jen Storey after hearing Johnson’s prairie tales. This collection is gutsy but in a subtle way: Dresses and bras gain sexy harness detailing, an ankle length, star-patterned skirt gets deconstructed perfectly, and there’s even one obscenely wearable bow-topped bolo. Norwegian Wood also makes one of the prettiest detachable collars we’ve seen this season: A silk neckpiece decorated with wispy blue wheat stalks. This collection is not only Topshop-approved—they’ll carry this line in their Oxford Circus flagship—but it should prove an appropriate choice for weathering both the wheat fields and the urban plains.
