You thought you were sooo cool with your Jansport backpack and My So Called Life hair. Baby, you ain't seen nothin' yet. While strolling in the (intense) sunshine at Wicker Park Fest over the weekend, we saw a vision in neon at the center stage—Purple Apple. Purple Apple is a band comprised of three 13-year-old girls (we're serious) and their 20-year-old babysitter. While most kids their age are mall-ratting their way through life, these chicks are living out a dream they've had since the were eight, and getting a huge head start on their generation in the meantime. While the music has the expected Disney-rock vibe, it was really impressive to us, and really entertaining for Purple Apple's peers (which is, after all, the point). We have totally underestimated our youth.
