Taking off our gloves, hats, and scarf this A.M. wasn't exactly an easy feat—all these winter accessories leave our hair rumpled, our hands sweaty...you get the point. Well here's a novel idea to cure that Seasonal Affective Disorder: Openhouse Gallery (NYC's only pop-up rental venue) is producing and hosting an indoor pop-up park, aptly entitled "Park Here," for the month of January. Think Central Park meets Malibu—there'll be an artificial lawn, forest murals, SAD light boxes (we need one of those), plus trees and park benches from set design company American Foliage. Before sunset the space will be open to the public: There's morning pilates with celeb trainer Alycea Ungaro, lunch-break yoga classes from your fave friends at Yogaworks, and all-day hydration from Smartwater. Nights are reserved for special events like flower arranging classes or wine tasting; Tickets are pre-selling now on Lifebooker. If you're looking for a picnic, on weekends "Park Here" will welcome local food vendors (Luke's Lobster being one!), meaning you can get your food-cart fix despite the freezing temps. Wonder if we can sneak in a blanket and a bottle of vino....
January 8 to January 20, 2011; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily; Openhouse Gallery, 201 Mulberry Street (between Spring and Kenmare streets); 212-334-0288.
