Exercising is one of the best ways to de-stress and clear out mental cobwebs, but sometimes, the gym is a little too much. When all you want to do is unwind from your stressful day by hitting the treadmill or sweating it out in Bikram, having to battle the after-work crowds or weekend warriors is the last thing you want to do. But, you don't have to do yoga in a yoga studio or bike in a Spin class. Expand your horizons, and take it outside.
Before the ice-cold chills of winter frost start barreling down on us, now is the time to take advantage of the great outdoors, says Leah Tubbs, cofounder of ModArts Dance Collective. "It feels really good to get that natural vitamin D. You definitely get this surge of energy that's coming from an organic place. If you're able to get outside for just 30 minutes, it changes your mood and even your mindset."
For a little change of scenery, we hopped in a Ford Focus with Tubbs and took to nature. Ahead, she breaks down three workouts for a full-body routine you can do on the go. Ready to feel that fresh air on your face? The warmth of the afternoon sun? Put on some sneakers, throw your hair in a ponytail, and head out the door. You've got some sweatin' to do.
