When Sarah Frances Kuhn takes a break from making fine accessories like these luxe camera straps, the former Teen Vogue staffer and NYC fashion staple has been recording with her new band P S A L M S. Along with taking the uppercase band-name trend to stylized new heights, the five piece makes dark psych-rock with a ‘60s bent.
Recorded at Converse Rubber tracks studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the new track SAUDADE & DUENDE fits with its title – "saudade" is Portuguese for "the blues," while “duende” is poet Federico García Lorca’s term for “irrationality, earthiness, a heightened awareness of death, and a dash of the diabolical.” Together they make for an uneasy blend of jangly psych, with farfisa organ pushing things further into the realm of the mystical. If you’re planning on having a séance this weekend, here's your soundtrack.
