Look Inside This Photographer’s Artsy NYC Crash Pad

The view from 46 stories above Manhattan is impressive. So, while interiors photographer Patrick Cline is busy hustling from one end of the deck that tops his midtown apartment building to the other, it's a little hard not to get distracted. What's even harder is believing that as striking as the view is in person, it will pale in comparison to what he'll capture on the boxy, nearly antique film camera that he's holding. But that doesn't mean it isn't true. While the rooftop gives you a panorama of midtown from the Empire State Building to Bryant Park, the furthest you can see isn't quite far enough to spot the town in England where Cline grew up, or all of the places he's been and worked since co-founding LONNY magazine or UPLO, his newest venture. But, on a clear day you can see straight to Brooklyn, and that's good enough for him.

A couple of stories down from the roof, the spacious one-bedroom apartment where Cline spends time between shooting jobs is a near-perfect reflection of the man himself: unpretentious yet unmistakably well-traveled. The decor is an eclectic mix of items acquired while shooting in exotic locales, and it takes less than a moment to realize that the design is meant to engage the eye. It's part bachelor pad, part art museum; black-and-white imagery dominates the walls, and Cline’s favorite photography books are artfully perched on window sills along with an assortment of curated collections, mementos, and other curiosities. It's the ideal setting for New York's post-modern James Bond to cool his heels, plan his next trip, or dream up his next big project.
