Contrary to what Hallmark will have you believe, red and pink aren’t the only colors one can or should wear on Valentine’s Day — nor are hearts the only print. Please. It's not that we don't dig the holiday's romanticism; it's just that dressing for it doesn't need to be so one-note. In fact, we're in favor of ditching the aforementioned sartorial clichés altogether.
Instead, we styled five alternative date-night looks that are sure to impress on February 14 and beyond. While we didn't axe red and pink from the lineup entirely, these outfits strike the right balance: They're festive, but still fashion-forward. Now, pass the wine — and hold the cheese.
