With backpacks ringing in at $55,000 and silhouettes more "supper club" than "in da club," The Row has always felt like a brand made for the sophisticated woman (both in terms of style and years). The Olsen twins may be just 27 years old, but they've pretty much nailed down the ageless-style thing with no-nonsense silhouettes and ultra-luxe riffs on traditional basics. And, for The Row's pre-fall '14 collection, that "wise style" point is really driven home with its models: Linda Rodin, Ursula Wallis, and Esther de Jong — who all modeled while the twins themselves were still rocking diapers — show off the collection.
Inspired by gardening clothes, the collection is rife with the kind of functional weekend wear you might have imagined your favorite professor wearing while summering at her Staffordshire cottage. Thick, oversized trenches and capes; pinstriped suiting materials; and cozy-looking wools, cashmeres, and poplins look as crazy-expensive as they probably are. But, judging by the range of ages represented, these pieces would probably be in heavy rotation in your closet for quite some time. Click through for all the looks, including a peek at a version of the infamous backpack that's been shrunken down for this collection and turned into a fanny pack. Timeless and chic, right?
