After obsessing over the weather report and anxiously planning a transitional wardrobe, it's almost unthinkable that we're about to gloss over not-even-here-yet spring and fast-forward to summer. But, we can't help it — and Urban Outfitters is to blame. The brand tapped designer Samantha Pleet to dream up flowery prints, matching sets, and swimwear, all shown in an L.A.-inspired lookbook that's full-on fueling our warm-weather fantasies.
Pleet first partnered with the retailer back in 2008, early in her career. "I started my line right out of school, so for the first five years I was still really experimenting, finding myself and my place in the world," she told us.
Her sophomore collaboration finds Pleet more firmly grounded in her own brand. "[It] comes at a time that I have really found my voice, my inspirations, as well as like-minded collaborators: photographers, stylists, filmmakers, musicians, and, most importantly, great production partners."
The selection of dresses, rompers, and swimsuits (available at Urban Outfitters right now and priced between $69 and $349), has all the makings of a summer wardrobe: scalloped hems, drawstring waists, knotted cutouts that are Pleet's signature. It will be recognizable to her followers, Pleet explained, but also serve as a primer for people discovering her work for the first time.
