When we spotted Solange Knowles stepping out of her car on Mercer street last night, we did a double-take. Gorgeous hair? Check. Funkified DVF dress? Yep. Killer Ash heels? Uh-huh. Of course, the musician was en route to the opening party of the Ash flagship store, co-hosted by your fave online destination—yours truly. She also kindly played hostess-to-the-mostess, rocking her much-copied style while browsing the future-perfect space filled with tough stilettos, bucked-up pumps, and hardcore boots (plus some studded styles for dudes). Other trend-setters were in abundance, including Hannah Bronfman, with party buddy Daisy Johnson in tow, Avenue editor-in-chief Peter Davis, 90210 star Shenae Grimes (finishing up her summer internship with Teen Vogue), Timo Weiland, swimsuit designer Lorenzo Martone, The Glamourai (aka Kelly Framel), and architect turned perfumer Carlos Huber. With Becka Diamond supplying the tunes, champers by Nicholas Feuillatte, and, yes, feathers and braiding, by 8 p.m. the crowd was ready to keep Hump Day going...more on that tomorrow, wink.
