Soso is a Stockholm native who makes club-ready pop with the self-produced sensibility of a bedroom-based DIY project. Her new single “I Never Thought You’d Come In Summer” is a buzzing piece of industrial-inspired maximalism, with throbbing synths and a “yeah! yeah!” refrain that splits the difference between Rihanna's robotic sultriness and Robyn's pathos. “I Never Thought You’d Come In Summer” shows Soso to be another addition to the recent crop of Swedish popsters who can match or best American Top 40 at its own game. If you want more, Soso’s fancifully titled mouthful of a debut, The Time I Dug So Deep I Ended Up In China, is out today.
