When it comes to green beauty, a lot of brands like to talk the talk, but very few actually put the proper resources and innovation into walking the eco-friendly walk. That's because environmentally friendly beauty is expensive and oftentimes challenging to make — at least that's what we're told.
Not so, says Adina Grigore, the founder of homegrown beauty line S.W. Basics. Grigore is a homemade-skin-care guru who started her all-natural beauty line in her kitchen. This month, she's moving into a new frontier of green grooming with the launch of her new Reusable Organic Cotton Rounds. Yes, that's right, reusable cotton pads for all of your makeup-removing, toner-applying needs.

The machine-washable rounds are sold as a set of eight (one for every day of the week, plus an extra, just in case) and come with a small drawstring laundry bag. The idea is that you use the certified-organic, unbleached rounds to remove makeup or apply cleanser or toner, and then place them in the mini laundry bag and toss into the wash.
Our first thought — who does laundry once a week? We're lucky if we get to it once a month. We probably just ousted ourself from winning domestic goddess of the year (because we so wanted to win), but there you go. Bad laundry habits aside, this is kind of cool. According to the Organic Trade Association, cotton is the world's "dirtiest" crop, due to its abundant use of insecticides. So, if we can decrease our daily dependence on non-organic cotton — like those found in your average cotton ball or round — then, in theory, we can do our part to help decrease the demand and directly impact the environment for the better.
What do you think: Are reusable cotton rounds a great idea, or is this a little too crunchy-granola for you?
