The Podolls’ Spring Lookbook Stands The Test Of Time

What's the best thing about a husband and wife designing together? The gorgeous duds, of course, especially when said threads are created with happily ever after sustainability in mind. That's precisely what Lauren and Josh Podoll have accomplished for more than a decade with their eco-line, The Podolls. Apparently, things really do get better with age: The current spring '13 collection, captured in this lookbook, is seriously gorgeous.

Shot by photographer Jack Alice, the images highlight breezy wares like geometric-printed maxi skirts, wrap dresses, and versatile button downs. The pieces are simple enough to style at whim, but the creative process was a tad more intensive, according to the design duo. Each textile was made entirely by hand in Khadi, India via the regions' hand-loomed technique (one that saves 30% more energy than machines!). In fact, the entire collection's drew inspiration from ancient hand-weaving techniques. And, those eye-popping hues dyed into the garments can be accredited to Gauguin's Tahitian paintings, most notably The Seed of the Aereoi.

To switch it up a bit, The Podolls' styled its model with crinkled tresses a la the '90s — but the designs couldn't be more fresh and modern. Take a gander at the sartorial shots after the jump, and see how early techniques are anything but ancient history.
