How much do we love Moda Operandi? Let us count the ways. The retail site is the perfect way to plan ahead (like 2013 ahead) while satisfying that shopping craving we get after browsing through pics of the latest runway shows. While their all-star lineup includes tons of our gotta-have-em designers, we're especially amped about the debut of Tory Burch's resort '13 collection (it launched today!). Not only is it your first chance to nab all her sophisticated offerings, but it's also the first time Tory Burch has ever sold on M'O. To celebrate TB's big day, we talked exclusively to Tory about all her seasonal inspirations, from Bianca Jagger to Amalfi amazingness. Check out the interview below, then click through to see highlights from the collection. Time to channel the jet-set '70s...after a little retail fix, that is.
How would you describe your overall aesthetic?
"Boy-meets-girl, with a bit of bohemian."
What are your favorite and least favorite decades?
"I always go back to the '60s and '70s, particularly photographs of my parents traveling in Greece and Italy. So chic. If you look at images of women like Bianca Jagger, Jane Birkin, Françoise Hardy, or Charlotte Gainsbourg from the '70s, they still look of-the-moment."
What was the inspiration for this collection in particular?
"A recent trip to the Amalfi coast — I was drawn to all of the soft greens and whites with navy and pink. We mixed traditionally rich fabrics with laid-back silhouettes, making it more effortless."
Who do you envision wearing these pieces?
"I hope that we are giving women options that reference glamour with everyday ease."
Was there one "magic moment" when you saw someone wearing your designs that most resonates with you?
"I'm thrilled when I walk down the street and see someone wearing something from our collection. There isn't a bigger compliment — women have a lot of options."
