Not to bring up the elephant in the room, but now that Alexander Wang is officially at Balenciaga, won't things be a tad bit weird with its spokes-superstar, Kristen Stewart? If you recall, Alexander Wang made major headlines when he cast Liberty Ross in his spring 2013 show — the publicity of which nearly eclipsed the presentation itself. When asked why he had pulled the beleaguered model out of semi-retirement, he succinctly stated, "Because I love her and support her.”
A little recap, if you will: Kristen Stewart was caught with Liberty Ross' husband in the great Twi-scandal of the summer of '12. But part of K. Stew's comeback involved throwing herself into her red carpet looks, many of which were Balenciaga (in fact, she owns the ubiquitous quilted leather jacket in four colors). With Wang freshly at the helm of Balenciaga and having so publicly supported Ross, maybe Kristen Stewart's involvement with the brand will become unceremoniously scant.
A bit like negotiating table settings for exes at a birthday party, this situation requires a bit of finesse. Of course, Stewart was pals with former designer Ghesquière, even attending the Met Ball with him, and is the official face of Florabotanica. Maybe she'll stick with the fragrance, while taking a less, erm, prominent role in the actual brand. Needless to say, we doubt there will be any trampoline-jumping in her near future. (Stylecaster)
