This year is London Underground’s 150th anniversary. Happy Birthday indeed. Though, there are times waiting for the tube when we can feel every single year of the structures’ existence creaking and groaning around us. Still, we would be lost without it.
Which is precisely why it is a real pleasure to see this institution celebrated by Penguin in the form of their Penguin Lines series. Penguin invited 12 people from a variety of industries to write 15,000 words on the tube line that most inspires them. Style magazine Fantastic Man chose the East London line (our favourite too), while Kid’s Company founder Camilla Batmanghelidjh chose the Victoria line. Each person designed the cover of their tome, and we've got all of them for your perusal, just ahead. Priced at £4.99 each, the books are available as e-books but the print versions are too lovely to pass over. Don’t you think?
Penguin Lines, £4.99 each, available at Penguin from March 7.
