As much as we savor what’s on our plates when dining out, we’d be lying if we said our eyes didn’t drift and pay just as close attention to the decor that bedecks the space. So, when a new restaurant swings open (uh, every week), we’re always anxious to see what artistic creations trim the walls. You can imagine how elated we were to find out that Oakland’s new A16 location was adorned with local artist and R29 fave Kelly Tunstall’s ethereal pieces.
“The pieces for the new A16 were inspired by folktales, regional patron saints, and aquatic themes,” says Tunstall. “The result is a body of work that speaks beautifully to the space: light, open, and airy. The long pieces are figures that depict the four seasons, four elements, three saints, and Chef Rocky Maselli's twin daughters.” Tunstall has shared a collection of images with us ahead of the opening this Saturday, so here’s a peek at what's in store!
