Good news — no, GREAT news. You no longer have to wait until 5 p.m. on Sundays to sink your teeth into Avec's signature (and damn tasty) chorizo-stuffed medjool dates. The West Loop restaurant is now open for brunch — a decision that will no doubt have Chicagoans (us included) clinking their mimosa glasses in merriment.
The sweet-and-savory menu includes items such as a Dutch baby pancake topped with seasonal fruits, roasted hanger steak served with a fried egg and papas bravas (hangover cure anyone?), cured smoked salmon, Spanish-style French toast with fresh ricotta and cherries, and yes — those beloved dates. And because no brunch would be complete without an adult beverage or two, there's harissa Bloody Marys, seasonal Bellinis, and speciality cocktails to keep you from getting anything accomplished the rest of the day. But isn't that what Sundays are for? Brunch is served from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. We'll see you there.
