We all walk into a first date repeating the "rules" our grandmothers raised us by: Always let the man pay; wear a dress (and heels); never talk politics or religion; make a perfect first impression, and never, ever sleep with him on a first date. So, it’s safe then to assume that following said rules will turn a Tinder date into a perfect three-year relationship, right? Yeah, didn’t think so.
In the brutally honest and comedic portrayal of modern-day dating, Andrea Syrtash and Jeff Wilser bring us a tome in a he-said/she-said format called It’s Okay to Sleep with Him on the First Date: And Every Other Rule of Dating, Debunked. Syrtash (a married woman) and Wilser (a single male) outline every aspect of dating, from who should pursue who to the complexities of digital dating, the dos and don’ts of (dare we say) sex, and even break-up goodbyes. Be sure to not misconstrue the tantalizing title as an excuse to drop those trousers on date one. Sytrash and Wilser's message is not to trust the rules, but to trust yourselves. Because, hey, isn’t that what we should be doing in the first place?
