Iggy Azalea has never been naked, per se. She's bared just shy of nude in her music videos, rapped about sexual exploits, and entertained a brief, public relationship with A$AP Rocky, but nakedness has never been her forte: "I’m only ever in a state of undress if it’s for my own project," she explained to Complex magazine, who finagled a way into getting the Australian-born rapper to, for the first time, get naked — both physically and personally.
Not that all hip-hop artists need street cred to validate their lyrics, though it's safe to say that Azalea's anecdotes prove that she has had a different childhood than most mainstream rappers. "Work," her most personal song to date, is a dancehall, basement-thumping autobiography of those days. She recounts her childhood, before moving to America at 16-years-old in Complex's October/November issue. Azalea discusses the bipolar nature of the music industry — specifically, what's deemed "cool" for an artist — and even shares the advice she's received from the big guys, like T.I.
Gavin Bond's Bettie Page-visits-the-Tiki-bar-themed shoot isn't too shabby, either, overflowing with the rapper's sexuality. Let's just say the American pin-up has been revived by this Australian. Azalea is still in the nascent stages of the spotlight, and at just 23, she's still blossoming — which is a very good thing.
