The first of three new songs from Lady Gaga arrived early this morning. And, well, happy Monday. Gaga's blessed us all with a sonic caffeine high for those moments when we start to slump at our desks. Press play, turn up the volume, and go.
"Do What U Want" is a throwback to the early-aughts R&B sounds of R. Kelly mixed with late-'90s Michael Jackson. Some might call it reductive, a rip-off of other artists' vibes, but that's the whole point. Gaga's written a song that, on the surface, reads like a song ripe for some red-light-district romping but also calls out the haters. Write what we want about her; do what we want with pictures of her — she doesn't care. In fact, Gaga went on a Twitter rant yesterday calling out all the rumors, Madonna feuds, and body shaming she's gone through to drive home the meaning behind her new song.

Andy Warhol once said, "Don't pay any attention to what they write about you. Just measure it in inches." It looks like Gaga's taken that to heart and has written a solid pop song that, try as you might, you can't not move to.
