The First Lady Killed It In Alaïa At The SOTU

While the Democrats and the Republicans undoubtedly have different views on President Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night, a lot of folks are in agreement that the first lady (once again) nailed her ensemble choice. Stylelist posted a couple of snaps of the FLOTUS sporting a gorgeous Alaïa dress, which was accessorized by her killer smile. The structured, forest-green, full-skirt frock (complemented by a coordinating cropped cardi-jacket) was conservative yet stylish — a winner in our book.
But, not everyone was pleased with the first lady's wares. The Chicago Tribune reports that there was some backlash because the design was by a non-American — Tunisian-born Azzedine Alaïa. While there have been other criticisms over the years (like the sleeveless Jason Wu number back in 2009), all of the previous designers have been American. So, what do you think? Should Obama have stayed true red, white, and blue with a dress made in the U.S.A.? (Stylelist)
