We completely understand the importance (and necessity!) of the occasional personal-style re-evaluation. It could be because you've gotten into the rut of wearing all neutrals, even when you have a wardrobe full of colors at your fingertips. Or, you need to streamline your shopping habits. How many striped T-shirts is too many striped T-shirts? But, Solange Knowles admits in ASOS magazine that her recent transformation may be leading her to stray from a core piece of her style identity (at least in our eyes). Yes, Solange is officially tired of prints.
As the feature star of the retailer's June issue, the singer-songwriter graces the pages wearing — interestingly enough — prints. A mix of them, too. But, as the interview inside explains, sometimes too much of a good thing is, well, too much. "I might be having a little evolution in my style," she tells the U.K. high-street label. "It's been a lot more subtle. I had a bit of print fatigue, it's been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember. But you want to evolve and experiment — that's part of the fun and joy of being a woman." Actually, we couldn't agree more.
As much as we may miss seeing Solange's masterful clash of patterns, it's not like we have any major concerns over her change of heart. After all, what makes Solange's style something worth obsessing is not just her disregard for perfectly matched pieces, but her ability to choose intrepid colors and clean and strong silhouettes and to know when less is more...and when it's not. And, hey, if you're really in need of a print fix, there's always Instagram. Check out the full spread in the slides ahead.
