She's won an Oscar. She's won everyone's heart. And, now, she's won her first (but probably not last) Vogue cover. That's some hat trick, Lupita Nyong'o.
The 12 Years a Slave star traveled to Marrakech, Morocco for her stunning July 2014 cover shoot. Mikael Jansson photographed the actress in designs from Prada, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, and Jonathan Saunders as she wandered around souks and took a dip in a bathtub filled with rose petals.
In the accompanying interview, the 31-year-old beauty discusses her sudden rise to stardom with Hamish Bowles. “It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life," she said. "People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me — before I recognized them!”
The lady who now serves as a brand ambassador for Lancôme was once a girl who designed her own prom dress ("It was kind of ridiculous, but it was fabulous at the time"). Now, she has an Academy Award and is about to star in one of the biggest film franchises of all time.
Click through to see what she has to say about Stars Wars: Episode VII and not pulling a Jennifer Lawrence move at the Oscars. Oh, and that garnet-hued strapless bathing suit she's wearing? It's from J.Crew. Get thee to the mall.
