The singer has parted ways with her longtime boyfriend, ex-Cassidy frontman Barrie James-O'Neill. The reason behind the sudden split was not immediately clear, but Del Rey decided to go the cryptic route when she revealed there "are some things with which he has to deal."
Whatever his problems are, they must have been pretty major. It was only a few months ago that Us Weekly reported the duo had been secretly engaged. "I will not explain it in detail," Del Rey added. "This was hard on our relationship, I no longer felt free. We’ll see how it goes.”
The 28-year-old singer is in the midst of a massive media blitz for her sophomore effort, Ultraviolence. She recently came under fire for telling an interviewer that she wished she was dead, like many of her rock idols. Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, shot back, tweeting that the "death of young musicians isn’t something to romanticise.” Cobain later deleted the tweet, maybe beause she'd heard about Del Rey's romatic strife. After all, it's not unusual to say things you later regret during a breakup. (Just Jared)
