When she turned 30, Jessica Alba was decidedly not of the "Ain't nothing but a number" mentality. "I don't know why it was so hard, it just was," the actress said in an interview with Marie Claire UK. Well, she kind of knows why. "I was pregnant [with Haven, now three,] first of all, and I really wanted to party like a rock star." Being with child has been known to impede one's ability to get turnt up and live out some Shop Boyz lyrics.
It wasn't just the pregnancy, though. Alba had what I like to call a "Big Yellow Taxi" moment. You know, that Joni Mitchell song in which she muses that "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone?" Turning the big 3-0 can easily induce one of those. "I didn't even know I cared about my twenties until I turned 30," Alba said.
Now that she's 33, Alba has come around. "I feel like I look better now. I think I came into my own physically in my thirties, even when I'd had kids." See, eventually the wisdom that comes with age takes over. The simplest life lessons come when knowing one's body and oneself crystalize.
