Dessert At Alinea Or A Jackson Pollock Painting?

When you log on to the website of Grant Achatz's famed Chicago dining destination, you'll see the quote, "Alinea is not a restaurant...at least, not in the conventional sense." If you've been lucky enough to dine there, then you know how accurate that statement is. But, if you've only been able to live vicariously through your coworkers via water-cooler conversation, then you've got to check out this rad video currently trending on Digg.
The YouTube clip entitled "Final Dessert at Alinea" just might change your perceptions of this expensive, exclusive, and formal restaurant. In it, a band of servers fastidiously spreads sauces and crumbles around the entire surface of the table before cracking open two chocolate spheres filled with goodies right in front of the entranced diners' eyes.
Messy? Sure — but that's just the type of imaginative (and delicious) creativity people from around the world are seeking when they make a coveted reservation here. So, even though we'll always have a soft spot for Bananas Foster prepared tableside, our latest fancy-pants dessert obsession is literally served right on the table. (Digg)
