This November, get enchanted by a good book. That’s the unifying effect of the books on this list: They’re absolutely spell-binding. We’re talking a labyrinthine puzzles of a novel, cursed woods where witches roam, and “dream houses” where a person can become trapped. 

Even the Carrie Fisher biography — which has not a hint of magical realism – is so absorbing that I quite nearly missed my subway stop while reading about one of her star-studded parties.
