In 2012, there is no relevant conversation about whether or not women are funny. From our vantage point, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hold down the two most pee-your-pants good half hours on television. Bridesmaids out-funnied The Hangover 2: Look! A Monkey! by a longshot, and earned a serious-as-a-heart-attack $300 million with no bankable franchise behind it. Additionally, for an unscientific linguistic indicator of dominance: The number of times the word “girl” appears in the title of a successful comedy or buzzed-about pilot (Two Broke Girls, New Girl, and Girls) nearly cancels out all the negative energy emanating from Two And A Half Men.

This is the dawn of the age of women who know how to make us — other women, actual women, women who don’t consider Anna Faris sleeping her way through her little black book to be funny — laugh. Behold, our lineup of the most ballsy, talented crop of female comedy writers in Hollywood.
