5 Fun Things To Do This Weekend

weekend activities in chicago
There's a lot of pressure to enjoy a summer weekend in Chicago. I mean, we can pretty much count the number of warm, rain-free weekends we get on one, possibly two hands, so we've got to make the most of them. This weekend, though, leave the tough stuff to us, and pencil in our hand-picked favorites for blowing off your work-week steam. As it turns out, this weekend is jam-packed with radical things to do that will make getting out of bed completely worth your while. Pick out your favorite weekend outfit (our street-style photogs are out and about, too) and enjoy summer 2011 while we've still got it.

1. Refinery29 Chicago's Brunch Shop Crawl with Starbucks

First and foremost, we want you hanging out with US this weekend. We've partnered up with Starbucks and five of your favorite Bucktown/Wicker Park boutiques for a brunch shop crawl of epic proportions. In addition to a brunch bar stocked with yummy goodies and coffee (yes please), each store is making massive markdowns no less than 30%, and some are even giving away awesome gifts with purchase. Before you go dote on Dad all day, do a little something for yourself. The fun starts at 11a.m., and don't forget to RSVP. See you soon!

2. Back Garage/Cushion Vintage Warehouse Sale
Spring cleaning extends to our favorite shops, too. BackGarage, Chicago's vintage furnishings darling, will join forces with Cushion Vintage for a massive, inventory-clearing sale. This Sunday, June 19 from 2 to 6 p.m., vintage furniture and housewares will be flying off the floor at 30 to 50% off (drinks for grown-ups will be there, too!). We're sort of giddy about this one. So is that totally bare corner in our apartment that's about to have some company.
BackGarage/Cushion Vintage Warehouse Sale, 3039 West Carroll, 2nd Floor (at Whipple Street).

3. Taste Of Randolph
We're no strangers to Randolph Street, with its tantalizing restaurants and deliciously expensive cocktails. Our only wish was that we could somehow sample all of this food freeway at the same time, rather than making a series of hard-to-get reservations that will take us all of 2011 to enjoy. Someone heard our call, or perhaps felt our frustration, and created Taste of Randolph, the street fair that masquerades as a tasting event. Sample small portions from Randolph Street's finest restos, all in one place this weekend. For a small donation at the gate, you can sample the yummies that Chicago food blogs and your pretentious coworkers keep raving about.
Taste of Randolph, 900 West Randolph Street in the West Loop.

4. Chicago Street Style Party
One of Chicago's hottest street style photogs, Amy Creyer, runs a little blog you may have heard of, ChicagoStreetStyle. The blog celebrates one year of Windy City style this Saturday night at the venue that deserves a street style photo all to itself, Beauty Bar. If we were you, we'd step out in our best attempt at a party look, because you know the cameras will be watching. Stic-of-the-Week is hosting, and the event is free with RSVP.
Beauty Bar, 1444 West Chicago Avenue (at Greenview Avenue); 312-226-8828.

5. Chicago Cut Father's Day Brunch
You knew we were going to pour one out for Dad, didn't you? At least if we're urging you to indulge someone else this weekend, we're sending you to the ace up our sleeve. Chicago Cut is arguably the best steakhouse in the city, and the resto is fully aware that some of us have very steak-and-potatoes dads who want nothing more than a comfy chair and a classy meal this Sunday. Weather permitting, take Dad out on Chicago Cut's riverfront patio and enjoy a proper prix-fixe Father's Day.
Chicago Cut, 300 North LaSalle Street (at Carroll Avenue); 312-329-1800.
