How Female Celebrities Feel About Red Carpet Questions

In February 2014, the Representation Project, an organization that, according to its mission statement, "uses film as a catalyst for cultural transformation" and "inspires individuals and communities to challenge and overcome limiting gender stereotypes," started the #AskHerMore campaign. The campaign highlights a blatant problem in Hollywood: Women on the red carpet are asked not about their inspirations, achievements, or anything existential, but instead about who made their dresses, who did their hair, or how they dieted leading up to the big event. 

The campaign's gained a lot of media attention this year, but it hasn't quite made its way to Hollywood. Over the past few months, we've spoken to 12 female celebrities about #AskHerMore. We wanted to know if they'd heard of it, how they felt about it, and what changes should be made to the way red carpet interviews work. We also wanted to look at how fashion can continue to have a role in awards shows without being the only thing reporters ask women to discuss. Ahead, how a dozen leading ladies really feel about their moments on the step-and-repeat.
