Hop To It: 5 Different Ways To Enjoy An Easter Feast

2
Easter came up on the calendar a bit early this year, so it's quite possible you haven't even wrapped your head around where you're going to feast yet. The bad news is it's less than a week away. But the good news is that we've rounded up five different ways to enjoy the holiday no matter your mood — or budget. From a fancy hotel brunch to a completely alternative option to the traditional Easter ham, these options won't leave you putting all of your, um, eggs in one basket.

For Those Looking To Eat At Home

When the restaurant environment just won't do — and home cooking is not an option — leave the dirty work to the Goddess and Grocer. With selects like goat cheese tarts, apple bourbon French toast, grilled baby lamb chops, grilled asparagus with truffle oil, and strawberry lemon cake, we don't think anyone at your dinner table will have any complaints.

The Goddess and Grocer, 25 East Delaware Place (between Wabash Avenue and State Street); 312-896-2600.

For Those Looking To Splurge

While there are a lot of bountiful hotel Easter buffets, our vote goes to the Peninsula for the 50-plus desserts it plans on serving. For $144 per adult ($42 per child under 12), you can stuff yourself with everything from every breakfast dish imaginable, sushi galore, pasta, cheese and charcuterie, salads, appetizers, carving stations, and more. Our advice? You better fast the day before.

The Peninsula Chicago, 108 East Superior Street (between Rush Street and Michigan Avenue); 312-337-2888.

For Those With A Sweet Tooth

We love Chicago q for its tasty barbecue, but come this Sunday, you can enjoy additional options such as carrot cake pancakes and an eggs benedict flight. There will also be a bottomless mimosa special — it is a holiday, after all. And to take you back to your childhood, each guest will walk away with complimentary homemade pink Peeps.

Chicago q, 1160 North Dearborn Street (between Elm and Division streets); 312-642-1160.

For Those Looking For A Bargain

Just because you're trying to save a little dough on Easter eats does not mean you have to resort to hard-boiled eggs at home. Porkchop is offering a hearty three-course brunch for just $19 per person — which includes a Bloody Mary, to boot. Dishes include options like gumbo, eggs benedict, and beer battered catfish filets. You can also opt to go for something off of the regular brunch menu, such as
chilaquiles, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and strawberry French toast.

Porkchop, 941 West Randolph Street (between Sangamon and Morgan streets); 312-733-9333.

For Those Looking For Super-Non-Traditional

Sushi on Easter? Why not — especially if you're not down with ham. Roka Akor is offering a special chef's tasting menu for $48, which includes dishes such as butterfish tataki, yuzu miso marinated black cod, and robata grill dry-aged pork chop. For $15 extra (go big or stay home), you can add on the robust dessert buffet filled with goodies like chawanmushi chocolate layer cake, mango cake, red bean pancakes, and much more to feel guilty about come Monday morning.

Roka Akor, 456 North Clark Street (at Illinois); 312-477-7652.
