It’s impossible to miss the hordes of fascinating women in front of the camera, but now it’s time to appreciate all the amazing ladies behind the lens! Tonight (Tuesday, May 7), the Midwest Independent Film Festival is bringing the women behind the scenes to the forefront with its Female Filmmakers Night.
Featuring a selection of eight films — ranging from shorts and animation to documentaries and features — there's something for everyone. There's even a prescreening cocktail reception at 6 p.m. and a post-screening reception at Avenue Tavern — how's that for red-carpet treatment? And with films by a group of esteemed filmmakers, including an Academy Award nominee and a Peabody Award winner, this event is destined to impress. So, why not channel your inner Sofia Coppola tonight? After all, nobody says Tuesday nights have to be boring.
Landmark’s Century Cinema, 2828 North Clark Street (between West Diversey Parkway and West Oakdale Avenue); 312-642-4222.
