It's time to toss the idea that Valentine's Day requires dropping a lot of dough right into the garbage. Most of the sweet, thoughtful things we do to show love don't cost a thing, and the five activities below just scratch the surface. What are your favorite free things to do on V-Day? Let's see how long we can get the list in our comments section.
1. "Dye" your lawn with white hearts. Need a how-to? We would, too, but it's easier than you think! (Wanderlustings)
2. Visit the Museum of Contemporary Art. It's free on Tuesdays! Très convenient! (MCA)

3. Visit your Valentine at work. You might have to make this one quick, lest your beloved gets a scolding, but we're thinking the office will think this move is so cute, no one will really mind.
4. Take a moonlit stroll along the lake. You'll need to don a layer or two, but as we wrote this, Chicago was expecting clear skies for Valentine's Day evening. (The Weather Channel)
5. Write something. On paper. Remember pens? They still exist! When is the last time you received something handwritten from someone you love? We can't remember either so we hope our Valentine's take this one...ahem, to heart.
