This Is Our Jam: Glass Candy, “The Possessed (Extended Runway Edit)”

When it comes to high fashion and high-concept pop, there's one person that we think does a better job than any other — and no, it's not Lady Gaga. Johnny Jewel's Chromatics project recently completed a much lauded collab with Karl Lagerfeld, while Jewel's Desire originally premiered its track "Heaven" on the runway as well. Now, the Italo-synth artist is bringing his Portland-based band Glass Candy to Paris Fashion Week, and it fits like a glove (or pair of shiny new heels).
"The Possessed" may have originally been heard this week on the runway, but the seven-minute track will eventually find its way — in some form or another — onto the much-anticipated After Dark 2 compilation later this year. With lyrics like "Through the glass / Our cares are laughable" and "We're six billion terrible / Women in vogue," Glass Candy seems to be turning the fashion mirror on itself, but it's hard to argue that haute couture couldn't benefit from some occasional self-reflection. Whatever Jewel and collaborator/singer Ida No's intention, the track is as sexy as the clothes it's meant to accompany.
