GT Fish & Oyster Turns One, We Get Free Food

Here at R29, we love birthdays (we love any opportunity to eat cake, really), but we don't necessarily love to buy stuff for other people. Which is why we get truly excited for occasions like this, when we get the free stuff (sorry we're not sorry!). Enter the one year anniversary of River North's much-praised GT Fish & Oyster — the restaurant, which, it's worth noting, received a 2012 Michelin Bib Gourmand, is serving free oysters to each and every guest this Saturday. Quantity is limited to 1/2 dozen per person, but really, how many oysters can a person eat? We say kudos to this trendy resto for starting a truly worthwhile tradition — we're hoping this turns into a yearly tradition, and that other bistros pick up on the trend (ahem, Big Star).
When: Saturday, March 31, from 4:30 p.m. to midnight
Where: 531 North Wells Street (at Grand Avenue); 312-929-3501. oysters-main
