It's a good time to be a model with pastel hair. Take it from Seattle native Irene Kim, whose rainbow of unicorn magic has been capturing the hearts of street style photographers in NYC all week. The splashes of color in her long black hair make a striking statement, and we've become absolutely addicted to stalking her on Instagram because of it.
Kim currently lives in Seoul, where she's a TV personality in addition to being a model. As for her hair, she says, "It's become my second skin. People in Korea are so used to my hair being rainbow that it's how they recognize me." Guided by colorist Sunwoo Kim, the 'do has evolved from a bleached ombré to its current My Little Pony iteration. In the year since she first dyed it, Irene says her style's been an "ongoing art project."
Despite her obvious love of vibrant hair color, Kim says the best beauty trick she's picked up backstage this season is "less is more." All you need, she says, is "just some light foundation, brows, and a lip tint." And, really, with locks like hers, it doesn't take much else to make a lasting impression.
