Chicago Costume
We like Chicago Costume because in addition to more traditional (easy!) packaged costumes, they've also got tons of makeup and embellishments to fuel any disguise you can dream up.
Chicago Costume, 1120 West Fullerton Avenue (at North Clifton Avenue); 773-528-1264.
Broadway Costumes
Now this is a costume shop. If it's good enough for the theater, trust us, it's good enough for Halloween. Break out the big guns here and take home first prize. You'll find plenty of stage makeup and some seriously intricate costumes here.
Broadway Costumes, 1100 West Cermak Road (at South May Street); 312-829-6400.
Ragstock Vintage
We're not exactly looking for a vintage Chanel today, ladies. Get creative with the threads of yesteryear, and see which retro characters you can bring back. We're partial to Kevin & Winnie from The Wonder Years, but maybe that's just us.
Ragstock, 812 West Belmont Avenue (at North Clark Street); 773-868-9263.
Fantasy Costumes
This seasonal pop-up will keep your Halloween dreams from being dashed by a lack of time or imagination. Walk in without a clue, and leave ready to rock. This shop is great for kids' costumes, too!
Fantasy Costumes, 4065 North Milwaukee Avenue (near West Irving Park Road); 773-777-0222.
Halloween Hallway
This pop-up is without a doubt the most convenient, because they have eight city-wide locations ready to help you scare the hell out of party guests (but not trick-or-treaters, they're too cute). Check out their website to find the store closest to you.
Halloween Hallway, 1291 North Milwaukee Avenue (at North Paulina Street); 773-598-5507.
