One Hot Local Gets Nominated For Fashion’s Version Of The Oscars

Ten very lucky designers just got the news of their burgeoning careers: a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nomination. And now begins a whirlwind of press coverage and opportunity leading up to fashion’s version of the Oscars on November 14. And you thought movie stars had all the fun. At stake is a $300,000 prize to the winner and $100,000 each to two runners up, plus year-long mentorships with some of the industry’s top tastemakers. Among the nominees is Chicago-born and -bred Dana Lorenz, the jewelry mastermind behind Fenton/Fallon. And while she’s now based out of Manhattan, we’re eager to claim bragging rights. Originally creating pieces for herself, she caught the eye of industry insiders and a DIY star was born. We’re not afraid to admit that we’re more than a little head-over-heels for Fenton/Fallon. Plus, it’s always fun to root for the hometown hero. (Vogue)
