Sad: Illinois Classrooms Are Losing All Sense Of Style

Typically when we hear news about local classrooms, we're hearing about teacher shortages, terrifying school lunches, or pregnant sophomores. Now we're hearing something perhaps more disturbing. As if handwriting standards had not gone down the toilet enough (we remember our grandmothers calling it "penmanship"), apparently it's about to be all but lost from the curricular landscape, as well. While cursive writing is a fundamental part of learning how to...you know...write, it's also part of a young person forming an identity. We know our friends from those bubbly D's and G's we see in the notes they pass us. We can spot cute-guy-with-skateboard's horrific writing a mile away. This is important stuff! And now we're losing it? Grandma's pissed. (NBC Chicago)
